We offer
From April CIRCE will continue its land-based surveys to observe and monitor killer whales, fin and sperm whales for which we need your participation as volunteers.
We offer the participation in a scientific project with application to the conservation of these species. Stays are for a duration of one week minimum, but may be longer. Besides the knowledge to be gained in the field, we will offer informative talks on cetaceans of the Strait of Gibraltar, based on the research that CIRCE has been carrying out since 1998 in the area. Do not worry about accommodation, CIRCE will provide accommodation for each of the projects. Given your condition of volunteer, you will have a volunteer insurance as required by the Spanish Law on Volunteers 6/1996.

Terms
The main requirement that you must meet to attend any of these volunteer projects is being a friend of CIRCE. If you are not a friend of CIRCE yet, in the registration form that you will find the bottom of this page, you will have the option to become one. Your commitment will be to help us in the active search of killer whales, fin and sperm whales from land, through the use of binoculars and telescopes, as well as keep track of them using a theodolite connected to a notebook computer for direct data collection.

Please keep in mind that you will work during all hours of sunshine possible. In addition we must count on the weather, this means that when the sea is too bad or if it rains, it will be impossible to observe the animals. In the days of bad weather, according to project needs you will participate to some office tasks, or will have time off to visit different attractions in the area (dune of Bolonia, Cape Trafalgar, caves ...).

The food is not included within the offer, but shopping will be done together and take place every Monday for the weeklong stay, so that costs are low. In addition we must warn you that it is not always possible to see the animals, although the weather conditions are perfect, and that cetaceans, as all wild animals, are unpredictable. However, the periods chosen for this activity are the moments when the possibility of meeting the animals is higher.
